I went to Albany for the 1st time this weekend. it was like a mini-vacation, it was nice. I went with the club that i'm in, known as
sabor latino. it's amazinggg. i like to think of it as a super "s.o.l.a" we actually do things. lol na but its cool.. we went down there for a conference and learned a lot from it, it was a great experience, and i didnt even get bored with the workshops. the 1st workshop was about love and hate. what is hate? and what is the opposite of hate?... the director of the discussion was saying that everyone hates something.. whether it be as stupid as "i hate cheese." lol w/e it maybe, everybody hates something. but the opposite of hate is
not love. it is indifference. because hate is a word that means strong feelings for something or something... as well as love... but if you are indifferent about it, then you really could care less. If you take the time to HATE something or someone, you take the time to care and develop the feelings of hate.. thats what i got from that workshop, we also talked about hate acts in America, as far back as the KKK and just all over the word. the 2nd workshop was by dennis febo, "waking the unconcious mind" that was was really interesting, he made us do exercises that were like relaxing and letting yourself get to know yourself better... find peace with in yourself. he told us things that i already knew, like you cant love nobody til you love you. if you put two hearts together long enough, they will eventually have the same beat, and beat together. in sync. he was telling us that if you hold hands together with someone, soon enough your pulses will be in sync. that shit is crazy. and he also made us realize, like how do we really know that today is
today and that we are our age. making us think and shit.. like would you be able to keep track of life without time and space? YOU are you, and no one can control you, you are the only person that has control of what effects you. people vibe off each other and it is so easy for someone to get to you, whether they are in a bad mood or good mood.. if you get them they can effect you. and we did this exercise and son! i literally felt pri's vibeee yooo that shit was crazyy..lol dennis said that everyday you should have 30 mins to yourself to be able to find peace with yourself no matter where you and learn to maintain it. and TODAY, the last day was a presentation about leadership by alex rogers (mad sexy.lol) he's only 22 and man, does he have insightful mind, kid got his head straighttttt! but umm, we were talking bout leaders, and everyone was saying like.. public leaders, like JFK, MLK,Ghandi, Harriet Tubman, Fidel Castro, ETC... but really a leader is anyone that has an influence on someone or something, everyone is a leader. he was talking about scenarios in life, and situations that jus take a second to change. like the example of.. you stepping into an elevator, and someone comes in..... and its just you two in the elevator, and both of you avoid eye contact, and all you feel is like a negative vibe, or this tense feeling in the air.. but if that person were to come into the elevator , and give you a quick smile, you would feel more relaxed, that person made your day, and then your standing there like "hey this isnt so bad" he said that people do that because its like we're scared of comin in contact with people dont know. and its true.. if everyone one would jus loosen up and be more open and all be leaders this world would be a much happier place.everyone is a leader. life is about choices. "i had no choice" doesnt exist, because there is and always will be a choice, there is always a moment where you can say "no" or "yes" but it is always there. and all it takes is a SNAP to make that decision. steppin into the elevator and smiling at someone, millisecond to do, just like a snap.
"There's a moment, there's always a moment,
'I can do this, I can give into this, or I can resist it' "--closer (2004)
all of these workshops were amazing, and very insightful i know i haven't described them enough for you to understand it, but take my word for it they were great. i cant wait til next year. and it was so good to see other organizations and schools there, its like hey, we're not the only ones that care. and i have always found myself participating in functions like this one and its like damn man, there are people that care, if only we could unify ourselves in the ways that we think and really PUT it out there. we could start a revolution and then there could be change. alex asked so, when is this revolution gonna start?? how long have we been waitin for it?" homegirl in the crowd said "too long" and she aint lying, i wish, and maybe someday we will start one, and maybe then there will be change, and i do not doubt it...
IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING. if you believe in it, then you can be it.the fuerza conference was truly amazing and i cant wait to go back.
indescribable experience.
